Preparing for interviews

How to practice, what to research, and how to answer “tell me about yourself”.

Research the role

  • Re-read the posting and list the three skills it emphasizes most.
  • Look up what the team or company works on so you can ask a specific question.

Practice out loud

  • Prepare a 60-second answer to “tell me about yourself”: where you study, what you’re into, why this role.
  • Use the STAR structure for behavioral questions: situation, task, action, result.
  • For technical roles, practice solving problems while explaining your thinking.

After the interview

  • Send a short thank-you note within a day.
  • Write down the questions you were asked — they’re great practice for next time.
