About Our Team
The Transportation Safeguards and Surety Program Office is responsible for providing systems integration, engineering design and support for the NNSA, Office of Secure Transportation (OST). We are the design agency and provide engineering design, development, analysis, testing, and operational support for the SafeGuards Transporter, Safe Secure Trailer, Armored Tractors, Escort Vehicles, mobile communications, and the Transportation & Emergency Control Center. The Program Office is responsible for all fiscal and technical aspects of SNL's program, assures that all projects are fully integrated and employ common quality principles across the program, and acts as the surety conscience for our NNSA customers.
With capabilities spanning the R-D-A spectrum, the team enables America's nuclear deterrence through sustainment of the existing fleet of Safeguards Transporters (SGT) while developing the next generation Mobile Guardian Transporters (MGT). In support of those primary missions, our team leads assessments of safety and security vulnerabilities and conducts research and development in resilient structural design, secure communications, and access delay technologies. As part of our initiative to grow our national leadership in transportation technology, we are recruiting a team of interns to join our Research Institution for Transportation Safety and Security at Sandia (RITS3). If you have a passion for ensuring America's nuclear safety and security in a rapidly changing world of transportation technology, we encourage you to apply.
